back in it

I’ve been trying to spend less time in front of the computer while I’m at home, but in turn I’ve been sacrificing this lovely posting site.  So, today’s the day.

Personally, I’ve read a couple books since the last post, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns (Graphic Novel) and Downtown Owl by Chuck Klosterman.  Both books were pretty good.  Batman was kind of depressing, and that surprised me since the Batman is kind of a personal hero.  Owl was good, but also pretty depressing on the surface.  It showed the perspective of three people of three generations within a town of approximately 800, and each gave a story from each of their perspectives.  It wasn’t a specific story that they focused on, they just told their own stories, and narrated their own lives.  While they never really interacted much, in the end their stories culminated in tragedy.

Now I’m reading Catcher in the Rye, I don’t think I really read it in high school like I was supposed to, so here goes nothin’.   Now for some links:

Submissions are due by January 25, 2009 for the lip-dub contest for Flight of the Conchords.  If you want be featured on the mother flippin, enter here!

Controversial and intriguing, British television aired a documentary about assisted suicide last month.  The man had a disease called “motor neurone disease (MND), which deprived him of the use of his arms and legs and caused him to be on a ventilator.”

More in science, Harvard researchers are developing “sophisticated microfluidic diagnostic devices, called microPADS, are made out of little more than paper and sticky tape [that] cost about three cents each” to diagnose diseases.

I love a good mash-up and this NSFW tune is no exception, Lil Jon & Nick Jr. WHAT!?
